VideosHelpDutiesAs a Biological Science Technician (Plants/GIS), GS-0404-07, with the National Park Service (NPS), your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Organizes, schedules, and executes a variety of established natural resource management projects focused mainly on carrying out field studies on plants and plant ecology.
Conducts inventorying and monitoring of exotic plants.
Performs mapping, simple data analysis, and some data development using Geographic Information Systems and related equipment.
Plans field projects, independently choosing from among several possible courses of action at different stages of each project (eg, selects site locations, sampling techniques, appropriate equipment, logistics, etc.
).
Performs field and laboratory analysis of collected samples.
Records all data collected and provides preliminary analysis and classification of the information.
Prepares draft project reports which include literature research, descriptions of methods, preliminary data analysis, graphs and charts, results, and recommendations for planning, protection, and mitigation activities.
Provides written comments on environmental assessments, resource management plan reviews, and park planning documents.
Installs, operates, and maintains resource management equipment (eg, tools, traps, and sampling, monitoring, photographic, and laboratory equipment).
Inventories equipment, evaluates quality assurance compliance, and calibrates equipment as necessary.

You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.

A uniform allowance will be provided.
If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid.
Any travel, transportation and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the responsibility of the selected employee.
This is a permanent Career-Seasonal appointment.
This position includes the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis.
You will work approximately from (mid-February to December) and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.
The selectee will work during annually recurring periods of employment for the position, which will last at least six (6) months but total less than twelve (12) months per calendar year.
When operation needs and/or funds are not available, the selectee will be placed in non pay status.
Placement in non-pay status will not be on a sporadic, occasional, or unplanned basis.
Benefits while in a non pay status - While in non pay status your Federal employee Heath Benefits (FEHB) and Federal Employee Group Life Insurance elections will continue.
You may elect to cancel or retain your health insurance coverage.
If you elect to retain coverage, you may choose between paying the agency directly on a current basis or having the premiums accumulate and be withheld from your pay upon returning to duty.
QualificationsAll qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/21/2022-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
To qualify for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level (obtained in either the public or private sectors) coordinating and implementing projects related to resource management that includes:
collecting and organizing field data related to plants and plant ecology; leading field crews in invasive plant treatments; performing mapping, simple data analysis, and data development using Geographic Information Systems; recording and managing data using Geographic Information Systems and computer software; and drafting resource management project reports or sections of reports.
OR One full year of graduate education in one of the following fields or course work:
biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, mathematics.
OR A combination of education and experience.
NOTE:
You must submit a copy of your transcripts or a complete list of college courses taken that identifies each course, college or university, semester or quarter hour earned, grade received, and date completed.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job.
