VideosHelpDutiesThe purpose of this position is to serve as the Facility Management Systems Specialist with primary responsibility for the Facility Management Software System (FMSS).
Duties may include:
managing the park FMSS database including asset inventory, condition assessments, cot estimating, life cycle parameters, and generation of facility work orders;coordinate with park staff on the development of projects in PMIS, coordinating FMSS work orders and estimates for projects in a variety of fund sources;prepares reports to analyze data in FMSS database to make operational, fiscal, and planning recommendations to management;maintain, update, and review FMSS data critical for tracking project funding;complete annual review, closeout, and set up of numerous routine maintenance work orders for inclusion in the operational budget.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
POSITION LOCATION:
Shenandoah National Park (SHEN) preserves and protects more than 300 square miles of nationally significant natural and cultural resources, scenic beauty, and congressionally designated wilderness within Virginia's northern Blue Ridge Mountains; and provides a broad range of opportunities for public enjoyment, recreation, inspiration, and stewardship.
Within just 90 miles of Washington DC, the park provides visitors the ability to explore mountain peaks, hidden hollows, cascading streams, accessible wilderness, and stunning natural beauty.
Approximately 40% of the park is designated wilderness with over 500 miles of hiking trails and the iconic Skyline Drive.
SHEN was established as an eastern park that provided a western Park experience.
Due to the park's easy accessibility to DC and other highly populated areas along the east coast, visitation exceeds 2 million visitors annually which results in significant resource protection and visitor management issues and incidents.

Time-In-Grade:
Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service).

You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.

QualificationsAll qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/10/2022.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience.
For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted.

To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
This experience includes providing technical support for asset management work related to Facility Management Software Systems (FMSS) and Cost Estimating Software System (CESS) which includes:
providing support for a maintenance program for a park, recreational area, or similar facility; asset identification and inventory including attached equipment/features, condition assessment, cost estimating, work order generation and life cycle information; reviewing reports to management from facility maintenance databases for operational, fiscal and planning purposes; assisting in the formulation and execution of long range strategies for facility management.

Successful completion of at least a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.
